About GBD

Grace Becton Design is a residential design firm based in Washington, D.C., led by Grace Becton. Grace’s path to design was a winding one. After growing up on a beautiful island off Maine’s coast, she attended Yale University, majored in history, and worked for non-profit organizations focused on humanitarian response and economic development the following decade. She lived, worked, and traveled around the world before landing in Washington, D.C. Once there, she transitioned her life and work to the design world.

The daughter of two artists, this pivot felt more like a homecoming than a career change. Grace has always cherished beautiful spaces and their impact on a person’s well-being. She considers it a privilege to assist clients in creating spaces they love to be in. She continues to learn and grow as a designer each day and works to guide clients through the design process.

Grace believes our homes are our most intimate spaces, reflecting who we are and how we wish to live. She approaches client relationships from a place of warmth and transparency. She believes in working with integrity and partnering with artisans, contractors, architects, and clients to create beautiful and meaningful spaces meant to be lived in.
